This is one time during the year when we usually have a chance to partake of a buffet meal or two. If you are like me, you want to try everything and plenty of it. Here are a few things to consider when buffet dining:
- The key is to make the right choices along with listening to your hunger cues , so you don’t eat more than you really need.
- Select leaner protein dishes such as chicken or fish.
- Skip dishes that have double protein, such as bacon-wrapped scallops.
- To minimize extra sodium, fat and calories, avoid dishes that are swimming in sauce.
- To limit fat and calories, stay away from fried items.
- Look for whole grains, which have fiber and will make you feel full.
- Select dishes that incorporate cooked or raw vegetables.
